The Benchmark Alliance
The platform for sharing knowledge and learning about continuous improvement in higher education.
A new partnership has been created by QASPIR and the National Higher Education Benchmarking Institute, to support institutions around the world through the powerful medium of sharing ideas, research, and good practice. The Benchmark Alliance provides institutions with national, regional and international benchmarks for strategic planning, accreditation, and reporting.
The Benchmark Alliance aims to help institutes assess its performance against another specific group of institutions and its programs at a national and international level. The key element of benchmarking is the identification of institutions and programs that achieve high levels of performance, which can then act as examples of good practice – these can then be emulated by those seeking guidance in better outcomes, performance and overall results.
QASPIR’s mission encourages and engages members to share their experience and data with each other as John Ryder, president of QASPIR explained: “As universities around the world aspire to reach international academic and organisational standards, it becomes all the more important to be aware of how peer institutions are accomplishing similar goals. Benchmarking is the best way to accomplish this. With its Benchmarking Alliance, QASPIR is now able to offer universities wherever they are located an opportunity to participate in the most beneficial benchmarking partnership in the world.”
Real Data for Analysing
Results and true data are achieved by analysing, assessing and implementing actions based on examples of good practice, and enables institutions to achieve more efficient processes and ultimately higher levels of performance. Practical benchmarking can lead to realistic target setting processes in relation to a broad spectrum of performance indicators, which encourages a more efficient environment.
Benchmarking has become one of the most compelling instruments for higher education institutes, which Steven M. LaNasa, Ph.D., Director, of the National Higher Education Benchmarking Institute confirmed: “The Benchmarking Institute has been leveraging our expertise to promote accountability and improve higher education in the United States for more than 15 years. Benchmarking has proven to be one of the most powerful tools that institutions have used to transform their practices, improve their outcomes, and demonstrate accountability—to accreditors, to governments, and to the communities they serve. Our emerging work with QASPIR and the Benchmark Alliance represents an exciting step forward—and one where we anticipate learning from QASPIR’s deep international engagement and lending our experience to promote comparative analytics and benchmarking around the world.”
